Five warm‑ups,

  1. 01

    Warm-up 1 · Riffs + scales

    Rhythm with feel

An A to A6 riff with palm mutes and accents, then minor pentatonic in eighth notes and triplets. It ends with a line that mixes major and minor sounds.

  2. 02

    Warm-up 2 · Triads + triplets

    Fuller rhythm, trickier picking

Double stops turn into triads over an A bass. Then a two-note pattern played as triplets, so the accent moves around the beat, and a melodic solo through the changes.

  3. 03

    Warm-up 3 · Barre riffs + arpeggios

Riffs you can move to any key

The same riffs as barre shapes, so they work in every key, with a stretch up to the flat seven. Then the arpeggios start.

  4. 04

    Warm-up 4 · Shells + 16ths

    Seventh chords and faster notes

Root, third and seventh shell voicings, low and high on the neck, then arpeggios higher up and the first 16th notes.

  5. 05

    Warm-up 5 · 9th chords + modes

    The jazz-blues sound

An A13 to D9 rhythm Levi picked up from Robben Ford, Mixolydian that changes with each chord, and the hardest run of the course at the end.

Common questions

Before you start

Who is this course for?
Beginner to intermediate players who know a few chords and the minor pentatonic box. Warm-up 1 is pitched at beginners, and each one gets a little harder, up to 16th-note runs in warm-up 5.
How long does a warm-up take?
About 5 minutes, so one fits before any practice session or gig. The lessons that break each routine down are longer, and you only need to watch them once.
Do I need to read music?
No. Every routine plays with tab synced to the video, and you get the backing track to download.
What key is it in?
A 12-bar blues in A. Warm-up 3 plays the riffs as barre shapes, so you can take them to any other key.
What are the access and refund terms?
Buy the course once and it's yours for life, with the backing track to download. You're covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee: email us within 14 days and you get a full refund.
